The Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE) and its predecessors, the American Institute of Electrical Engineers (AIEE) and the Institute of Radio Engineers (IRE) date to 1884, and were amalgamated on January 1, 1969. The student chapter of IEEE was formed in 1959, and is still going strong more than half a century later. We offer our members many benefits, and run several seminars on a semi-regular basis covering various subjects relevant to engineering students.
